An important Belgian economic mission will be travelling to India from March 20 to 27, 2010. The economic mission will be presided over by HRH Prince Philippe of Belgium, Honorary Chairman of the Belgian Foreign Trade Agency.
This economic mission is being organised jointly by the Belgian Foreign Trade Agency and by the regional Institutions for Foreign Trade (AWEX - Wallonia Export and Investment Agency, Brussels Export, and Flanders Investment & Trade). Coordination between the four partners is assured by the Belgian Foreign Trade Agency.
The Federal Public Service of Foreign Affairs in Brussels handles the political and protocol aspects of the programme.
HE Steven Vanackere, Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium and Belgian Minister for Foreign Affairs and Institutional Reform, will participate as a member of the federal government. HRH Princess Mathilde will also join a part of the programme in India.
The mission will travel to Delhi, Pune, Mumbai and Bangalore and will focus on a few key sectors: public transport and infrastructure, logistics, green tech, automotive, ICT and aeronautics. Various activities and visits will be organised around these themes.
Over 250 Belgian businessmen have registered for this economic mission. The participation of the Belgian media (television channels and major daily newspapers) is also ensured. In total, the official & trade delegation will consist of 315 persons.
